The Secret Treasure of Zoe A. Powers is hidden somewhere in the City of San Carlos….but where? The only way you’ll find out is to get your team together and prepare for a fast-paced trek through the City of Good Living!
Assemble Your Team: Grab two friends and at least one parent who will assume responsibility for your team. Fill Out Your Registration Forms: You can download them from the Registration page and fax them to (650) 598-9958 or email them to bob@bredelhomes.com. Please note that we cannot guarantee your spot until all team members forms are completed and faxed back as well as your Supervising Parent(s) forms. Crack That Book!: The clues to the hunt will be based on the parks in San Carlos, any handouts, the materials associated with The Secret Treasure of Zoe A. Powers and the San Carlos history book of choice this year, “San Carlos, Images of America”. We will buy each team a copy of the book. If you do not want to wait until the orientation meeting to receive your team’s copy, you may purchase a copy at most major book stores or on Amazon.com. Game Day: Teams will assemble at Casa de Flores in downtown San Carlos between 8:15 and 8:45. You must check in at the registration booth prior to entering the hall. Your team may not check in until all team members and supervising parents are present. Once all teams have been seated in the hall, each team will be given the first of 10 clues.
How it Works: After studying all materials, parks and the history book, teams will be given the first of 10 clues at Casa de Flores. Once teams identify the location of the second clue site they will travel to that particular location and receive their next clue. This process continues until the team has successfully made it to each of the ten secret clue locations. Once a team has visited all ten locations, they will travel back to Casa de Flores where they will be given the final, golden clue, which will hint at the location of the treasure chest keys. Once a team finds the keys, the hunt is officially over. Teams will receive a text message to return to Casa de Flores where the winners will be revealed and the treasure chest will be opened. Supervising Parents are not allowed to help answer the 10 clues. However, Supervising Parents are allowed to help on the physical challenges. At 4 of the 10 clue locations, a physical challenge will need to be performed by the team prior to obtaining the next clue. We will not tell you which of the ten stops has a physical challenge ahead of time.
The Glory: One team and one team only will find the keys to the treasure chest and by the 2010 San Carlos Treasure Hunters Champion. The winner will keep the treasure, have their names inscribed on the San Carlos Treasure Hunters Trophy and have their names noted in the San Mateo Daily Journal (assuming coverage, which we have had each year).
All is Not Lost: If your team is not the winner, you should still return to Casa de Flores. Once there you will be treated to a catered lunch, be entered in a drawing for fantastic prizes and we will go through the entire hunt and explain all clues, including how the winning team was finally able to put it all together and find the keys!
